My family is from Cleveland and I spent the 90s in punked out daze on the East Side not far from where Kahlil grew up. Most of that incredibly huge Project is gone, but what remains has some of my family members living there. I know the area and culture of Cleveland. Reading this book opened a door into memories for me. I could relate so vividly that the story stayed with me throughout the days after, so much so that I had to read it again. The strength of character Kahlil revealed in this brutally honest book, reminded me of the resiliency of the human spirit and gave me strength. God delivers things into our lives when we need it and this book was the message I needed when it came into my hands. Buy it. Read it. You won’t regret it.
